Waking the Intuitive (Part 2/5)
3 simple tools for dropping into the body
Let's talk about intuition.
Whew! What a word. Especially as there is a huge movement around waking and connecting to the self as source as well as the opposite, which is a movement to detach even further from trusting the purity of knowing/gnowing that resides in your body. (There's that both/and I'll keep pointing out.)
From my own embodied understanding of learning to trust my intuitive self, I have cultivated a witnessing, trusting and listening to what my body shares with me in regard to the world around me/experiences/questions, but also what the highest version of myself is sharing with me. (The wisest version of myself.)
There is a lot to unpack here so if at any point you begin to feel your eyes glaze over or your heart get tired then please stop and come back. You can always come back. This is titrating. This is self care.
And please, ask questions.
Learning to listen to the body takes a lot of trust. It takes time. It takes a willingness to surrender attachment to the mind (thank you meditation) and also a willingness to consider what comes up as you surrender.
Any trauma, be it in this life or another, may also inform how much time and effort it takes to allow yourself to surrender AND also trust what you sense when you do.
(If you have known trauma or sense you may, please seek out professional help. We are not meant to walk through life alone though much of the journey and discovery occurs solo.)
Much of what I write about and share places intuition center stage so it felt important to share some simple tools that can be used to allow yourself to stay connected to your body, the meeting point of Source and the Human Experience on Earth. When you stay connected to your body it is far easier to receive intuitive knowing. But we live in a noisy world surrounded by constant distraction so it takes effort to remain in relationship to our own source/self.
Remember, this journey is not quick but it can be immensely life changing. Not only for you but all those around you. Shifting your own essence and frequency, gives others a kind of permission to shift theirs as well.
And now, 3 simple tools to support your journey.
TAPPING: Reconnect with your Body
One of my go-to tools is tapping. When my body feels disregulated or disconnected from my knowing, I drop back in to myself by tapping my high heart with my fingertips.
Relax both hands, creating a slight curving of your fingers.
Allow the tips of your fingers to rest just below your collar bone.
Tap gently on your high chest (high heart).
Allow the breath to deepen.
Close your eyes.
Let more space come between your shoulders and ears.
When it feels like you have dropped back into your body, when you no longer feel like you are floating above or your feet become heavy, stop. Keep your eyes closed and notice how your body feels.
I love this because I can do it anywhere and it informs my body that I am safe. It has actually created a Pavlovian response for me because I've done it so much. My body softens quite quickly, but that has happened over time of using this tool.
BARE FEET: Connect with the Earth
There are so many beautiful ways to allow your body to become still when engaging with the earth but a simple one to start with is to stand barefoot in soil.
(Notice where your breath is before, during and after you do this exercise. Is it shallow? Full? Slow? Quick? Up in your chest? Down in your belly?)
Let your feet be naked.
Step onto the earth…grass or soil.
Bring your attention to the earth below your feet.
Feel your feet ON the earth.
Allow your senses to really receive through your feet. Is it damp? Is the soil dry? Is the grass poking your skin? What ever it is, notice it. Be with it.
Don’t stay if it makes you uncomfortable, physically. But if it brings up emotions or thoughts, notice them. Become curious about what it rises to the surface.
Check in with your breath. What shifted if anything?
When you feel complete, like your body and soul are back together, journaling & freewriting can be very helpful to allow the intuitive to come forward. Don’t over think it, just write. If you have the time and space you can also draw, paint, color, dance, make music…CREATING is the soul’s expression of the intuitive knowing that resides within making itself manifest into form. (If you want journaling inspiration pop over to
’s Isolation Journals. She shares a beautiful practice with prompts.)Thank the earth and continue on your day.
This can also be done as a mindful walk with the same ideas present. It does require a much slower pace if you choose to walk. One that allows your foot to roll with the earth.
BATH/SHOWER: Connect with the Water
The healing quality of water is truly a marvel and a gift. Whether it is through drinking a glass of water or being held full body immersed, there is nothing quite akin to surrendering to water.
Either through a shower or a bath, bring your attention to the water on your skin.
Allow your skin to soften as the water envelopes or lands upon you.
Can your skin and bones allow themselves to become heavier in the water?
(If you are standing, your feet may feel weighted too.)
Can you surrender any small portion of your body to the softening?
I often have the most downloads in water. I find this space to be immensely quiet and still, giving my body a respite from the noise allowing myself to be greatly receptive, (save for meditating). There is no technology here. No one to tend to or care for.
It is in the softening and the quiet here that much of my creative inspiration comes through and my team/guides can communicate with me more easily.
Starting or continuing your journey and cultivating a relationship with your intuition is a life long process. It does become easier over time but as with all things, it takes commitment and practice (surrendering). Some days it is easier to receive than others and that is okay.
Be open to surprises and messages that may arise in your daily life. They can start to show up through music, art, a conversation you may have, etc. All of it is present, if you have ears to hear.1
May we trust our deepest knowing.
May we believe what is received with curiosity and an open, discerning heart.
May we allow ourselves to soften so we may expand.
Blessed Be.
With Love.
I am sharing things you already, know. I am merely a reminder. You know? ;)

I have downloads in the water too!!!!!! Baths are magic!!!!!
